Social Media Marketing.  Is it really effective?

There are so many coaches that tell you if you are an entrepreneur you need to build a Social Media presence.  You need to post on social media at least 2 to 3 days.  They also tell you to create a Facebook Business page, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Pinterest accounts.  Do you really need all those accounts?

As a business owner you may struggle with marketing content.  Starting a business is so exciting.  You start thinking I am my own boss.  I get to make all the decisions and set my schedule.  However, with starting a new business the hardest thing is to find clients.  If you are a business owner, how did you find your clients? So, they tell you to market yourself and your business on social media.  Build a brand for yourself. 

Why is social media marketing so important?  Some say social media is more than just a trend.  Social media has become an integral part of digitally ad and marking your products and services and bringing awareness to your brand.  Below are some key reasons why social media presence is important. You may be wondering what I should post?  When is the best time to post?  When you are posting make sure it is relevant to your business, your product, or your service   Make sure the information you are posting is content engaging to your audience.  Your social media should be helping your business grow.

 

What is content marketing and why is it important?  Content marketing is very different from marketing with content.  Content marketing allows you to reach, engage, and convert customers by using keywords.  Keywords are words customers use in google search when they are looking for something specific.  For example, if you were looking for an air fryer you would type something like this “air fryer”.  By using keywords, you are increasing your search engine optimization for your site. Search Engine Optimization is used to increase the ranking of websites on the results page.  The rankings vary due to different search queries or keywords.  The website that appear on the first page of results are usually the ones user will click on.  The more keywords you use in your page the better chance you have of your page appearing on the first page of results. Make your content interactive to keep your readers involved and engaged.  Listed below are a few to incorporate

  • Quizzes - it can be 5 to 10 questions used to gather data from prospects
  • Assessment - like quizes this is a fun way to get to know prospects
  • Surveys - Ask a few questions to find out what htey prefr, what motivates them
  • Contests - People love a challenge
  • Infographics - this is how great visual content can be shared 

Review some of the results reported by B2B reviews and ratings firm Clutch who is partnered with marketing agency Smart Insights.  They surveyed 344 social media marketers from around the world to determine the most engaging content shared on social media platforms and what business are investing in. (Guest Author, 2021)

Here are the results:

52% believe social media positively influences their company’s sales and revenue

  • Facebook (89 percent)
  • LinkedIn (83 percent)
  • YouTube (81 percent)
  • Twitter (80 percent)
  • Instagram (56 percent)
  • Infographics - this is how great visual content can be shared 

Additionaly results include:

  • Almost 80% of companies shared original content on their social media
  • Engagement is 36% which is most important for metrics for diffeent companiues while 35% comes from tates for conversions
  • B2C (58%) values social media more then B@B companies (46%)
Social Media's biggest challenges include:

  • Not enought financial and human resources (26%)
  • The lack of strategizing formally (24%)
  • Building a community for influencers and followers (24%)

Keep your business goals in mind.  Remember to market your self and your business.  Let the public know who you are and what you can provide.  Be sure to add great visual content.  Stay engaged with your audience by providing meaningful content.  Add pictures, videos, statics, and graphs for visual content.
